Lavonia City Council Approves Annexation for Proposed Apt Site on Pleasant Hill Rd

The Lavonia City Council has approved the first reading of a request to annex 26.48 acres on Pleasant Hill Rd. as well as a rezoning a request for the property from Ag Intensive to R-3 multi-family.

Lavonia’s Planning & Zoning Board voted unanimously Monday night to recommend approval after hearing from developers, The Dairy Apartments, LLC out of Brooks, GA and representatives from Karma Real Estate Solutions from Atlanta.

Dairy Apartments LLC is looking to build an upscale apartment complex on the property currently owned by Sheila T. Sharpe and Steve Terrell.

Keith Bagwell is with Karma Solutions.  He says the plan initially is to build a 150-unit, three-story complex.

The complex he said will be similar to one the Dairy Apartments recently completed in Cornelia and will feature, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments.

Amenities, Bagwell said, will include a pool, exercise room, and an office area. Rent will run between $800 – $1100 a month.

The City Council also approved the second reading of a request to rezone 42 acres on Andrews Circle from R1-A to Medical Campus District.

Developers MFT Land Investment, Inc. is hoping to find a developer to construct a multi=level senior citizen complex with separate independent and assisted living, as well as a nursing home facility

Both recommendations were passed by the City Council unanimously.
