4-H Rabies Clinic Today in Canon at Beggs Farm Supply

The Hart County 4-H in partnership with Dr. Matthew Keifer of Hartwell Animal Hospital will be holding a rabies clinic today and again on May 1 at the Beggs Farm Supply in Canon on the Royston Highway from 5:30p to 6:30p.

This is a drive-through event but all dogs and cats must be either on a leash or in a pet carrier.

The cost for the rabies shot is $8 per pet – cash or check only.

Pets must be on a leash or in a carrier.

As we have been telling you over the years, there is no cure for rabies either in pets or in people, but you can protect them and your family by having your pets and livestock vaccinated.

There’s been a decline in recent years in the number of domestic animals contracting rabies but the disease continues among wild animals and those wild animals can transmit the disease to domestic animals such as dogs and cats.

Signs an animal may be rabid include staggering, the animal appears restless, aggressive, having difficulty walking, seeming to be overly friendly, or appearing to be challenging.

District II Public Health says adults and children alike should avoid contact with unfamiliar animals, domestic or wild – even if the animals appear friendly.

Again the Hart County 4-H rabies clinic takes place this evening at Beggs Farm in Canon from 5:30p to 6:30p.

And if you miss the clinic tonight, another one will be held on May 1 at the same location and time.
