23rd Polar Bear Plunge slated for Feb. 23

The 23rd Annual Polar Bear Plunge & Winter Festival will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 with jump registration starting at 11 a.m. and costume judging and plungers hitting the water at 12:30 p.m. The event will again be held at Hartwell Marina, located just two miles off the square at the end of N. Forest Ave. The address is 149 Hartwell Marina Road.

To participate, participants must donate a minimum of $150.

Prizes will be awarded for best costumes, the oldest Polar Bear jumping, the youngest Polar Bear jumping, and others.

The event also features a chili cook-off with judging taking place at 11 a.m. as well.

Along with the plunge, attendees can expect food vendors to be on hand, a cake walk and face painting.

All proceeds befefit the Northeast Georgia Council on Domestic Violence.
