The rain held off for Saturday’s fifth annual Lavonia Renaissance Festival and by all accounts, it was another successful event.

This year’s RenFest was held on the grounds of the old Moose Lodge across from Lavonia City Park.

Lavonia DDA Director Barabara Busby said about 2,000 people attended the fair despite the threat of rain.

Main Street Director Ashley Rose Dodd said Monday they were very pleased with the turnout.

This year’s theme was Pirates and Mermaids complete with a real pirate ship for kids to climb on, renaissance-themed vendor items for sale, and renaissance food.

Dodd said the fair also included a host of other fun attractions.

Dodd said now that the 2024 RenFest is behind them, the Downtown Development Authority and Lavonia Main Street are now turning their attention to planning for next year’s RenFest.
