2023 Northeast Georgia Ag Expo Set for This Weekend in Hartwell

The Northeast Georgia Ag Expo returns this Saturday to the Hart County Charter System Agriscience Center from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Sponsored by the Hart County Farm Bureau and the Hart County Charter System, the third annual Ag Expo is facilitated by the University of Georgia’s Archway Partnership.

This year those attending will be able to view indoor and outdoor ag exhibits, a speaker panel, free activities for kids, food, raffle prizes, and an Antique Tractor Show, and folks will get to see commercial farm vehicles and equipment up close.

“We’re really excited for the local agriculture community to be able to connect with the general public so that they can get an idea of what ag professionals are doing on a day-to-day basis,” Northeast Georgia Ag Expo committee member Brian Fleming said. “It’s great for the kids to be exposed to these experiences early on so they can learn where our food and many other products come from.”

Additionally, professors from the University of Georgia will also be at the Ag Expo covering several different topics including Poultry and Forestry.

There will also be a panel discussion with local agricultural experts and those attending will be able to ask questions and have an open discussion about local agriculture.

Other highlights will include a calving simulator and a rainfall simulator.

Again this year is the Antique Tractor Show, which has been a popular attraction at the first two Northeast Georgia Ag Expos in 2021 and 2022, drawing in folks from around the region who dusted off their antique tractors for display.

And as in past years, multiple awards will be handed out to participants who enter their tractors last year.

Those who plan to enter their antique tractor still have time to register by going on line to
www.hart.k12.ga.us and look for the link under the “announcements” tab, or call Community Relations Director Grayson Williams at 706-376-5141.

Paper registrations can also be picked up at the Hart County Board of Education office located at 284 Campbell Drive, Hartwell.

Registration on the day of the expo will be available, but participants need to arrive by 8 a.m. to unload their tractor.

Admission is free to the Northeast Georgia Ag Expo and parking will be at the Hart County Agriscience Center located at 1951 Bowman Highway.
