2023 Lavonia Boat Expo Set for March 18

The 2023 Lavonia Boat Expo is shaping up to be better than ever.

Sponsored by the Lavonia Downtown Development Authority, this is the fourth year of the Boat Expo and a lot of vendors will be on hand to tell you all about boats, and all that goes with them.

Susan Poole is coordinating this year’s event that is coming up on Saturday, March 18 from 10a to 4p.

She says as in past years, there will be different kinds of boats to view as well as a host of vendors to tell you everything you need to know about owning and operating the boat of your choice.

“We have four local dealers and they usually bring five or six boats, usually pontoon boats and boats for cruising and fishing,” she said. “And then the Blueridge Society of Antique and Classic Boats usually bring five or six of them. And this year we have a new boat coming this year. A man whose hobby is jet boats or drag boats and he will be bringing that boat for display. We have at least two dozen vendors. Several of them are new this year. So, we continue to get bigger and better every year.”

Poole said representatives from Tugaloo State Park and a boat rental company will also be there to talk about how to rent pontoon boats and other water equipment.

And like last year, there will be a Children’s area that will also have a boating theme with activities.

“We’re setting them up between 11a – 3p. And there will be a pool of water that they can paddle around in rubber boats. Or they can get in the big plastic balls that float and try to walk around in those. They’re called water-walking balls,” Poole explained.

And if you’re looking for lake-themed decor, Poole says you will want to check out the art show at Sweet Combs of Honey on West Avenue.

There will also be 50-50 drawing for charity during the Boat Show. The winner will receive half of the total ticket sales.

Tickets are $5 for one and $20 for four and are available now at the Lavonia Train Depot and until noon the day of the Boat Show.

Proceeds from the drawing will go to benefit the Lavonia Food Pantry.

And 92.1 Lake Hartwell Radio will be broadcasting live from the Boat Expo.

Again, the Lavonia Boat Expo takes place Saturday, March 18 from 10a to 4p on Main St. Downtown and admission is free.
