Mobile Career Coach in Royston Thursday

GMRC Mobile Training UnitJob seekers in Franklin and surrounding counties might want to take advantage of another opportunity to get some help with their career search when the Mobile Job Training Unit visits Royston on Thursday.

Sponsored by the Workforce Development arm of the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission, the Mobile Training Unit will be at the Royston Library Thursday afternoon from 12:30p to 4p.

“We help assist with resume writing, job searches and online job applications,” said Instructor Micah Thomas. “Sometimes applying for jobs online can be confusing or sometimes people have an interview coming up and we assist them with that.”

They also help people who want to make a career change.

Thomas said they offer a short evaluation that helps job seekers decide what new career would be best suited for them.

“We have access to career assessments,” he said. “It takes about five minutes to do it and it helps them decide which direction they might want to go.”

And often changing careers means getting new training or furthering one’s education.

Thomas says the Mobile Training Unit team will also help by showing the applicant where to get that training.  And he said they can even apply for financial aid.

“We off tuition assistance,” he said. “So if you meet the qualifications and you know you need to go and get more training or education, we assist you with funding to go to school.”

There is no charge for the help offered by the Mobile Training Unit team.

Thomas said they average 5-8 people during the four hours they are at a particular location so he said there is always room for more.

Again, the Mobile Training Unit for job seekers will be at the Royston Public Library Thursday afternoon from 12:30p to 4p.
