16th Annual Dam Dog Walk Set for This Saturday in Hartwell

The Hart County Humane Society is hoping for great weather this Saturday when they host their 16th annual Dam Dog Walk at the Big Oaks Recreation Center in Hartwell.

The walk runs from 10a to 2p.

Humane Society President, Donna Madkiff, said this is an opportunity for the public to help them raise money to help sick and injured animals they take in.

During this year’s Dam Dog Walk, as in past years, she said dog owners can walk along the path leading to the Hartwell dam and back again, about a 2-mile walk round trip.

And as you walk, Madkiff said there will be some fun goodies for dog owners to collect as they walk.

Madkiff said there will also be food vendors, along with t-shirts and other items for sale that will go to help the dogs and cats the humane society rescues.

The Dam Dog Walk is sponsored by Purina and Lake Hartwell Veterinary Clinic.

New this year, Madkiff said is an alumni get-together for those pet owners who have adopted from the Hart County Humane Society.

There will also be the Dam Dog Pet Pageant, which takes place at noon.

Categories for the Dam Dog Pet Pageant are Best Dressed, Most Talented, and Cutest.

In addition to the Hart County Humane Society, Madkiff said the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter will be there with dogs up for adoption, along with BellaDoodles Golden Doodles who will be selling t-shirts as well.

All money raised from the Dam Dog Walk goes to help pay the medical bills for sick and injured dogs and cats taken in by the Hart County Humane Society.

Again the 16th Annual Dam Dog Walk takes place this Saturday from 10a to 2p at the Big Oaks Recreation Center in Hartwell.
