01/23/14 – “Heidi” – German Shepherd at Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter

HeidiHeidi and an Australian Shepherd were found wandering near Martin in Franklin County last week and brought to the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia.

Both were weak and emaciated from wandering for who knows how long. Either they were dumped by their former owner and left to fend for themselves, or somehow were separated from their owner.  We’ll never really know.

The Australian Shepherd has gone to a no-kill rescue group to be placed for adoption.

Meantime,  the Shepherd, which the staff has named Heidi, continues to put on weight. She is about 25lbs underweight, but is otherwise healthy and gaining weight every day.

Heidi is a young adult who is great with other dogs and even cats. She loves people and would make a great family dog or companion for anyone who understands the breed.   Heidi is also housebroken, the staff has discovered, and walks well on a leash.

Her adoption fee is just $55, which includes her spay, rabies vaccine and health check up.

If you have been looking for a nice dog to add to  your family, please stop by the shelter on Bear Creek Road in Lavonia and meet Heidi.
