Work Source Georgia Mtns Still Has Grant Money Available for Job Training

Work Source Georgia Mountains, a division of the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission, still has grant funding available to help high school or GED graduates who need job training launch a career.

The funding is from the National Dislocated Worker Grant and several large employers are looking for candidates to fill their positions.

Danielle Avelar is the Outreach Coordinator for Work Source Georgia Mountains.

Avelar says these are short-term training opportunities designed to get a young person into the job market fast. The grant funding for job training is geared specifically towards those high school or GED graduates who have yet to choose a career path.

Once the five-week training is nearing completion, participants have the opportunity to interview with a number of companies offering average pay scales starting at $18/hr.

Again, the job training is free for the student and is paid for through National Dislocated Worker Grant.
