Vendors Needed for Upcoming Currahee Military Weekend

Preparations are underway for this year’s annual Currahee Military Weekend in Toccoa-Stephens County and the call is out for vendors.

The Stephens County Historical Society is looking for licensed food vendors and non-profit community organizations that would like to participate in the festivities.

The annual event began in 2001 as a way to honor World War II veterans from the 506th who trained at Camp Toccoa, the weekend has grown each year with thousands attending from all over the country.

Stephens County Historical Society Recording Secretary Lyn Hack says the weekend, which runs from October 5th through the 8th this year, will be filled with lots of events for history buffs and veterans to enjoy.

Hack says this year, in the downtown area, Stephens County Historical Society will host food vendors, informational booths and a Quarter Faire, with activities planned from 10-4 p.m. on Saturday, October 5.

She says the Quarter Faire will be similar to the Penny Faire during the 1940s that raised money to support military efforts.

Again, anyone interested in joining the list of vendors should contact the Stephens County Historical Society for more information by emailing Hack at [email protected], reviewing the link on the website at: www.toccoahistory.com or by calling Hack at 706-573-7852.

Information and applications will be emailed at your request or they also may be picked up in the Currahee Military Museum gift shop at the train depot in downtown Toccoa.
