Two Comprehensive Plan Forums Planned This Week

Two more public forums will be held this week for Franklin County Citizens on the Joint Comprehensive Plan, and one will take place tonight.

The next public forums will be held tonight from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Gumlog community at Poplar Springs Baptist Church at 67 Poplar Springs Church Road in Lavonia.

Another forum will be held Tuesday, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Carnesville Community Center at 961 Hull Avenue in Carnesville.

Comprehensive Plans are guides for coordinating development policies and capital improvements to help local governments ensure more efficient and effective paths to achieving their respective community vision.

The documents identify critical goals and the action items needed to achieve them, helping the community prioritize its resources through more informed decision-making.

They are also required if a community wishes to be eligible for all State assistance.

Adam Hazell with the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission (GMRC) is assisting Franklin County and the cities of Carnesville, Canon, Franklin Springs, Lavonia, and Royston with an update of their joint Comprehensive Plan.

The plan must be completed and submitted to the state by the end of October.

Anyone with questions about the document or the process, contact Adam Hazell at 770-538- 2617.
