Tractor-Trailer Crash, Fuel Spill Shuts Down 85 SB Wednesday
A crash on I-85 Wednesday afternoon brought traffic to a standstill for several hours.
According to GSP Trooper William Jordan with the Hartwell Post 52 it happened around noon on I-85 SB near mile marker 172.
Trooper Jordan tells WLHR News the driver of a tractor-trailer was in the left lane when he drifted into the center median.
When he tried to re-enter the left lane he hit another commercial vehicle in the rear.
The impact caused the driver of the first tractor-trailer to jackknife and come to rest in the left lane.
The impact also caused a large fuel spill and all lanes of I-85 South were closed for several hours so crews could clean up the spill and remove the two
Trooper Jordan said both lanes were re-opened by mid-afternoon.
He said neither driver was injured. No word on any charges for the at-fault driver.
