In Stephens County, the man accused of stabbing his father to death and injuring his mother continues to await a bond hearing.

Stephens County Clerk of Superior Court Tim Quick said that because this is a murder case, 39-year-old Christopher Vaughn, of Toccoa will have his bond hearing in Stephens County Superior Court.

A date for that hearing has not yet been set.

Quick said scheduling of a bond hearing before a superior court judge can take several weeks, depending on the court’s schedule.

Vaughn is charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

On the morning of Thursday, December 28, Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a verbal domestic call at a home on Bart Holcomb Road at around 6a.

Then, at approximately 7:40 a.m., deputies returned to the same residence in response to a report of a person stabbed at the home.

When they arrived, deputies found the homeowner, 63-year-old William James Vaughn, dead as the result of a stabbing.

Deputies found Christopher Vaughn locked inside a room and was taken into custody.

Another victim, Janet Lynn Vaughn, was able to escape and run to a neighbor’s house and call for help.

She suffered severe injuries and was air-lifted to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Her condition is still not known.

Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate.
