Three Local Christmas Parades Scheduled for This Weekend

Weather permitting there are three more Christmas parades scheduled for this weekend.

On Saturday, December 9, the City of Canon will hold its annual Christmas parade down Depot Street.

This year’s parade features an exclusive royal appearance by Ice Queen Elsa and of course, Santa Claus.

All vehicles and floats are welcome.

Line up begins at 10a with the parade starting at 11a.

In Royston, the annual Royston Christmas Market will again be open at the Royston Train Depot on Saturday, December 9, from 10a to 3p.

This will be the last weekend for the Royston Christmas Market and shoppers are encouraged to come down and pick out unique handcrafted gifts.

Then, at 3:30p is the annual Royston Christmas Parade.

This year’s theme is “Home for the Holidays” and Main St. Director Michael Crump said there will be prizes for the top two most creative parade entries.

The first-place prize will be $250 and the second-place prize will be $150.

Line-up for parade entries begins at 2:30p on Old Elbert St.
The parade starts on Old Elbert and will travel down Church St. to Franklin Springs St. and ends at Dill’s parking lot.

The City of Hartwell will hold its annual Christmas parade on Sunday at 4p.

The theme this year is “A Hart County Christmas,” and is a tribute to all that makes Hart County special. Parade participants are asked to interpret that theme in a way that celebrates what makes the community uniquely meaningful to them.

Grand marshals this year are the 2023 Bassmaster Junior National Champions, Kale Temple and Luke Schnell.

The parade will begin at HCHS, wind down Franklin Street through the heart of downtown Hartwell, and end at the Ace Hardware Shopping Center.
