Sub-Freezing Temps Tonight Have Power Crews on Standby for Outages

With temperatures expected to get down into the teens overnight tonight, Hart EMC crews will be ready if power goes out in the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville Spartanburg, temperatures tonight in the Franklin/Hart county area are expected to dip down to around 18 degrees.

Hart EMC Spokeswoman Angie Brown says their crews are already prepared to help keep the power on for their customers.

Meantime Monday, over 2,500 Georgia Power customers lost power Monday morning in the Royston/Franklin Springs area.

According to their Outage page on the Georgia Power webpage, outages were reported at 31 locations affecting over 2,500 customers by 11a Monday.

The outage also affected traffic lights in downtown Royston for a time according to Royston Police Chief Donnie Boleman.

Power was restored by noon Monday.

WLHR News reached out to Georgia Power for the cause of the outages but did not hear back.
