Special Reception Scheduled This Evening for Two Outgoing Royston City Councilmen

The City of Royston will take time tonight to honor two outgoing City Councilmen for their many years of public service.

Citizens are invited to attend a special reception for Post 6 Councilman Wayne Braswell and Post 4 Councilman Lee Strickland.

In the November election, both Councilmen ran for re-election but lost to their challengers.

Tony McCollum will assume the Post 6 seat and Fletcher Hodges will take over the Post 4 seat beginning January 1.

Post 2 City Councilman Jason Phillips also ran for re-election but retained his seat on the Council.

Mayor Keith Turman has announced the drop-in reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. this evening at Royston City Hall.

In Carnesville, Missy Holbrook has been sworn in as Mayor by Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Malcom.

She takes over the duties of Mayor after longtime Carnesville Mayor Harris Little chose not to run again.

Also, two new city council members took the oath of office. They are Sherry Cheek and Gabbie McFarlin.
