Second Week of Advanced/Early Voting Begins Today

The second week of Advanced/Early voting gets underway today ahead of the November 7th General Election and will run through November 3.

Absentee ballots are also being mailed out but voters wishing to cast an absentee paper ballot only have until this Friday to request an absentee ballot.

Voters in Franklin and Hart County municipalities are deciding on city council and mayoral races.

In Franklin County, all five municipalities have contested races.

In Lavonia, Incumbent City Councilman Eddie Floyd is being challenged by former councilman Harold Harbin.

In Royston, Incumbent City Councilman Jason Phillips is being challenged by Wesley Fricks.

Councilman Lee Strickland is running against Fletcher Hodges, and incumbent Wayne Braswell is running against challenger Tony McCollum.

In Franklin Springs, Councilmen Bill Bell and Tommy Pritchett are running for re-election and Pamela Mayfield is running for a seat on the council.

In Canon, Incumbents Bill Brown and Bobby Locke are running for re-election and Ricky Minish is running for City Council.

In Carnesville, Incumbent Patsy Watkins is running for re-election. Vince Esposito, Sherry Cheek, and Gabbie McFarlin are also running for City Council.

Voters in Lavonia, Royston, and Carnesville are also being asked to decide on whether to allow Sunday alcohol sales.

Franklin County voters are casting early ballots at the temporary offices of the Franklin County Board of Elections on Hull Avenue in Carnesville – the old Carnesville Elementary School.

In Hart County, voters are advance voting at the Hart County Board of Elections office on Cade St. in Hartwell.

In addition to the contested City Council races in Hartwell, both county and municipal voters are deciding on whether to pass the next Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax or SPLOST VI.

Again, Advance/Early voting takes place through November 3, and there is one more chance to vote this Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
