SANTA CELEBRATES RE-OPENING OF LAVONIA CARNEGIE LIBRARY WITH VISIT WEDNESDAY

The Lavonia-Carnegie Library is back open to the public after being closed for several weeks.

Maggie R. West, Branch Manager-Franklin Co. Libraries, said the library re-opened Monday and is back on its regular schedule.

The Lavonia Carnegie Library closed in early November for repairs after a truck slammed into a power pole across from the library in early October.

The impact caused a power surge at the library, which shorted out the wiring and permanently disabled the heating and air conditioning system.

West said once workers got in there to make repairs, they also found more damage than expected.

In celebration of their opening before Christmas, West added that Santa is again taking time out from his busy schedule to host Story Time at the Library on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

The Lavonia Carnegie Library is open Mon & Wed: 10a-8p, Tues & Fri: 10a-6p, Sat: 10a-2p, and closed Thursday & Sunday.
