Postal Service to Hold Public Meeting at Eastanollee Post Office Today

Customers served by the Eastonallee Post Office are invited to attend a public meeting today on a proposed reduction in retail hours .

Last May, the U.S. Postal Service announced hours at thousands of small post offices across the country, including Eastanollee, would be reduced to better reflect usage.

Under the proposal, the Eastanollee Post Office would see a reduction in retail hours from eight hours a day to six hours a day.

U.S. Postal Service Atlanta District Communications Manager Michael Miles said the list came from looking at foot traffic at every post office in Georgia.

The Eastanollee Post Office is the only post office in Stephens County affected under the proposed plan from the Postal Service.

However, a number of other post offices in northeast Georgia were affected by the plan.

The meeting to discuss the proposed cut in retail hours will take place at noon today at the Eastanollee Post Office, which is located on Eastanollee School Road, and the community is invited to attend.
