Franklin and Hart County School Systems, are allowing parents to pick up their children early if they so choose to watch the partial eclipse but the schools are NOT closing early.

The Franklin County School System will allow parents to check their students out at 1:30p today so they can watch the eclipse together at home.

However, for those students staying in class, teacher preparations for dismissal will take place at the normal time, at 2:30p, with dismissal at 3:06p, and busses will be running as usual.

Additionally, all after-school athletic and other events will go on as usual.

Parents who wish to pick up their students early must do so between 1:30p and 2:30p on April 8.

Similarly, the Hart County School System will also allow parents to pick up students between 1:30p and 2:30p.

Teachers with students staying in class during the time of the eclipse will use it as a learning opportunity and safety viewing glasses will be provided to all students.

And other school systems in our area are also letting out early because of the partial eclipse.

Schools in White County will have an early release for students and staff at 1p this afternoon.

Parents of students are advised to check emails from the White County School System to find our more details on the early release.
