One More Day Until the Opening of the Franklin County Hometown Fair

It’s been months in the planning stages and tomorrow evening the Franklin County Hometown Fair will officially open on the grounds of the American Legion Post in Lavonia.

The fair is a joint effort by Franklin County and county municipalities to bring back the old Franklin County Fair after some 40 years.

Lavonia Main Street Manager Ashley Rose Dodd said they are ready for three days of fun for the whole family.

The fair kicks off Thursday evening which Dodd says will be a Family night and each day through Saturday will have a different theme.

One of the highlights of the fair is the Blue Ribbon competition.  Dodd said they had quite a good number of people entering their homemade goods.

Judging for the Blue Ribbon competition is taking place today but visitors to the fair will be able to see the winning submissions inside the American Legion Hall beginning Thursday evening.

The fair will end Saturday night with live entertainment and a special light display – but Dodd says it won’t be fireworks.

The music and light display begins at 7:30p Saturday night.

Again, admission is free but you do have to pay for rides with either a $25 wristband or $3.50 per ride.

No outside food or beverages will be allowed on the fairgrounds but there will be food vendors inside.

And again, bring your lawn chairs for the concerts on Saturday night that will feature Clay Page and Scott Teasley.
