North Georgia Tech Creates New Position for Student Retention

kallan williams 2014North Georgia Technical College has created a new position to help teachers and staff help student reach their career goals.

The position is called Director of Retention and Student Navigation Services.  Each College in the Technical College System of Georgia will have the position.

For North Georgia Tech, Kallan Williams has been hired to be the new Director.  Williams’ previous role included coordinating the dual credit programs for high school students at NGTC.

“Working with our area high schools and their students was a great experience. I am excited to expand support services to all student types,” he said. “At the end of the day, helping each of our students graduate and gain employment is our main goal. NGTC’s increased efforts will hopefully produce many more success stories.”

In his new role, Williams will provide information to faculty and staff on targeted career and educational pathways. 

“Student success is a priority at North Georgia Tech,” said President Dr. Gail Thaxton. “Kallan’s experience in recruiting and working directly with the area High Schools will propel us forward as we implement our continuous improvement initiatives including Complete College Georgia and Achieving the Dream.”

Williams will also develop and maintain collaborative working relationships internally with various college departments.  Externally, Williams will develop relationships with community partnerships and outside referral services.
