No Big Items on the Agenda this Legislative Term, Says State Senator Hatchett

State Senator Bo Hatchett said the upcoming mid-term General Assembly, which begins today, isn’t expected to have any major legislative issues as it did last year.

Speaking at the Franklin County Chamber’s Policies and Pastries breakfast Friday along with State Representative Alan Powell, Hatchett said he’s not expecting any of what he called, “big ticket items” this term.

Several areas that he said the Senate and House will continue to work on this legislative session include the problem of gangs and beefing up safety in our schools.

Hatchett said gangs have moved into our area and he was able to enact legislation that prevents them from recruiting children.

Another bill Hatchett sponsored last term was SB60 which cracks down on people stealing catalytic converters.

He said until that bill became law, suspected thieves could not be arrested.

Both Hatchett and Powell pointed to Georgia’s economic success as the result of years of fiscal conservatism.
