New Precinct Cards Going Out Due to Congressional District Change

Franklin and Hart County voters can expect new precinct cards in the mail soon.

Now that the two counties have been moved to the 10th Congressional District new precinct cards must be issued.

Franklin County Elections Supervisor Tracie Creason said the new precinct cards will be mailed out over the next couple of weeks.

Creason emphasized that this does not mean your precinct or precinct polling place has changed.

Most voters in Franklin County will see no difference on their cards other than the change from the 9th Congressional District to the 10th.

Only voters living inside the city limits of Lavonia will see a change in their polling place from the old Lavonia Community Center off the Hartwell Rd/77 Ext. to what will be the new Community Center at the Lavonia Ball Fields.

Recently, the City bought that building on Bear Creek Road from Woodmen of the World and is in the process of renovating it.

The City sold the old Community Center to the Lavonia chapter of the Masons and also bought the Masonic Lodge building on Vickery St.

In Hart County, Elections Supervisor Robin Webb said she has ordered the new precinct cards and they will be going out as soon she gets them in.

And a reminder that the deadline to register to vote is February 12 if you want to vote in the March Presidential Preference Primary.

February 12 is also the time when Election offices will begin mailing out absentee paper ballots and early voting will begin for the March primary.

And if you have not voted in the last two elections, now is a good time to check with your Elections office to see if you are still on the voter rolls. And if you have moved, to let them know and give them your new address.
