Missing Greenville Man Found in Safe in Oconee State Park

Good news for the family of a Greenville man missing since last Monday.

On Saturday, Oconee County Emergency Services Director Scott Krein announced 66-year-old Mark Patrick Wagnon was located at around 3:15 pm by a volunteer search group in Oconee State Park.

At one point last week, it was believed Wagnon might be headed into Georgia.

Wagnon had left his home in Greenville driving his gray Sentra and had not been seen since.

Then last Thursday, his vehicle was spotted parked at the park, and on Thursday, Oconee County Emergency Services established a unified command that included multiple law enforcement, emergency, and rescue groups as well as volunteers at Oconee State Park.

Krein said Saturday that Wagnon was located approximately ½ mile from where his car was located late Thursday morning.

According to Director Krein, Mark was located near the Foothills Trail, in a valley near a creek, but not on a trail.

Director Krein says that Wagnon was is in good condition and was talking but was confused and dehydrated.

He also had a few minor injuries.

The urgent search for Wagnon resulted when his family told authorities he has health and cognitive issues that required medication and immediate attention.

Krien and the Unified Command thanked all agencies involved in the search for Wagnon at Oconee State Park as well as the volunteers and the volunteer search groups that were organized to search for Wagnon.
