Martin Woman Denied Bond in Alto Prison Incident

In Habersham County, the woman sought in a May 24 incident outside Lee Arrendale State Prison in Alto has been arrested.

Leticia Erika Perry, 28, of Martin was arrested by Floyd County Sheriff’s Office last week and was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center Friday.

Perry is charged with aggravated assault, criminal interference with government property, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, failure to report an accident, seatbelt violation, and driving while license suspended or revoked.

During a first appearance hearing Monday morning, Mountain Judicial Circuit Judge B. Chan Caudell denied bond for Perry on the charges.

Shortly after 4 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24 a vehicle occupied by Laticia Erika Perry, 28, allegedly attempted to run over a corrections officer and rammed a Georgia Department of Corrections vehicle containing an officer who was attempting to stop the vehicle from leaving.

Perry was wanted for allegedly being involved in throwing illegal drugs over the prison fence at the facility near Alto.

After wrecking the vehicle, Perry fled the scene on foot.

Devonte Jenkins, 26, also fled from the area of the prison on foot. His identification was located near where suspected drugs were thrown over the fence.

Jenkins was arrested in Cornelia early Wednesday afternoon and was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center in Clarkesville.
