Manhunt Monday in Habersham County Ends with Arrest

A man wanted in Athens who fled from State troopers in Habersham County Monday is behind bars.

After about a six-hour manhunt Monday, 50-year-old Rahim Abdullah was taken into custody.

Abdullah fled from troopers when they tried to pull him over on Highway 365 for a traffic violation.

The high-speed chase ended when he crashed his vehicle near the Highway 17/Toccoa exit ramp.

Abdullah fled on foot but was captured late Monday afternoon.

Troopers charged him with driving under the influence, improper stopping, improper turn, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road, reckless driving, failure to obey a stop sign, and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

Authorities say Abdullah is also wanted in Athens where Police say he fled during an attempted stop on Nov. 3.

Police there say Abdullah was wanted in connection with a domestic incident last month that left one person dead.
