Manhunt in Banks County Ends in Arrest

The manhunt for a suspect charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault in Banks County is over.

Banks County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Carrisa McFaddin said Matthew Theodore Samples was located and arrested in a wooded area on Windmill Farm Road property near Highway 441 on Wednesday.

“From the original incident, we were able to locate the victim which then led to the manhunt Tuesday evening at approximately 4:30p,” McFaddin explained. “Security was heightened at Banks County Middle School, Banks County High School and the Banks County Recreation Department as the search continued throughout the evening. Patrol deputies continued to search for Samples through the night even after receiving information that he may have left the county.”

School Resource Officers along with patrol deputies saturated the area of the Banks County schools throughout the morning Wednesday, and by Wednesday afternoon, Samples had been located and arrested.
