Man Charged in 2020 Vehicular Homicide Case Due Back in Court

The attorney for a man charged in connection with a fatal wreck four years ago in Franklin County will be back in Franklin County Superior Court this week for a status conference.

Northern Judicial District Attorney Parks White is asking the Court to revoke the bond of Justin Michael Grizzle who’s charged with Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree from a fatal wreck in 2020.

It happened February 29, 2020 on Highway 29 in Franklin Springs.

According to Sgt. Tracy Webb with the Georgia State Patrol Hartwell Post, a pick-up truck was traveling north on Highway 29 in Franklin Springs when a Camaro, driven by Justin Michael Grizzle came up behind the pick-up and attempted to pass.

As both vehicles entered a curve both drivers lost control.

As the vehicles were spinning in the roadway, they collided striking the passenger side of the Camaro.

The Camaro went down an embankment and struck a telephone pole on the passenger side.

According to Webb, the passenger in the Camaro died at the scene.

The Camaro also contained three children who were in the back seat.

Webb said that after speaking to the Troopers at the scene, Grizzle allegedly left the scene but was arrested later.

Grizzle was later arrested and charged with 12 counts, including Homicide by Vehicle and Felony Homicide by Vehicle, two counts of Driving Under the Influence, three counts of Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree, three counts of Endangering a Child While Driving Under the Influence, and Reckless Driving.

He later pleaded not guilty and was released on bond.
