Lavonia Police Participate in Random Acts of Kindness Week

Lavonia Police are participating in Random Acts of Kindness Week as the City of Lavonia has declared 2024 a Year of Kindness.

On Wednesday, officers were at the Chick-fil-A in Lavonia handing out free cookies.

According to the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation, Random Acts of Kindness Week runs from February 11-17, 2024 and the goal is to inspire and uplift one another, one story and one act of kindness at a time.

Each day this week you are encouraged to do one act of kindness for someone.

Today, the focus is on Kindness in School and the challenge is to think of someone who impacted you in a positive way when you were in school and reach out to that person and share with them your story.

On Friday, the goal is to Cultivate Kindness in Relationships by reaching out to a friend or family member you haven’t spoken to in a while and express your appreciation for them, perhaps by sending a handwritten note or text.

Saturday is the official Random Acts of Kindness Day nationally and people are encouraged to incorporate acts of kindness into their daily lives beyond this week.

Lavonia Police Chief Shane Edmisten said some of the ways you can do that is by:

1. Sending an uplifting text to a friend or family member.
2. Let that guy/girl merge into traffic with a wave and a smile.
3. Include intentional moments of kindness, laughter, and delight in your daily routine.
4. Go slightly outside your comfort zone at least once a day to make someone smile.
5. Share a compliment with a co-worker or friend and
6. Treat someone to a cup of coffee (a friend, stranger, or even yourself).
