Lavonia City Council Approves Rezoning for Distribution Center

The Lavonia City Council has approved the second reading of a request to rezone 80 acres on Gerrard Road for a distribution center.

At their meeting last week, the Council voted unanimously to approve the property be rezoned B-3 heavy industrial.

That designation was approved because the City does not have a light industrial zone designation.

Ed Fickey, with the Wakefield Group, is representing owner and seller Michael Haley and requested the rezoning at the Council’s November meeting.

Fickey noted the property is large enough that more than one distribution center or light industrial business could be put on the property.

At last week’s meeting, no one spoke against the plan and Council voted unanimously to approve the rezoning.
