When kids visit the Lavonia Splash Pad in the coming weeks they’ll have another fun attraction to keep them busy.

Last week, as part of their participation in a year of kindness, the Lavonia Chamber of Commerce donated a giant Adirondack chair.

Built by students from Franklin County High School, the big seat is painted a beautiful shade of blue and is a great addition to the splash pad area. Like the mural, it brings a whimsical feeling of fun and imagination to the splash pad area.

Since it opened, there have been ongoing improvements and additions to the splash pad area.

Last year a covered pavilion was installed complete with colorful People-size Adirondack chairs for parents and caregivers to sit and watch the kids enjoy the water feature.

The City also installed a sun shade over the splash pad to help keep kids safe from the sun’s rays and cool on hot days, and they also put in a shower area for kids to rinse off after playing in the sand.
