Last Week to Vote Early for May 21 Primary

This is the last week of early voting before the May 21 Primary and General Election and voting in both Franklin and Hart Counties has been steady and election officials say it may even be record-breaking.

Over 900 voters have cast early ballots in Franklin County and in Hart County well over 1,000 early ballots have been cast at their two voting locations combined.

Georgians are going to the polls to decide on state and local races.

In Franklin County, voters have six contested County races as well as the Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorneys race and the State Senate District 50 race.

Early voting takes place at the Franklin County Board of Elections office on the Royston Road (Hwy 145) in Carnesville.

In Hart County, voters have five contested County races and the Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorneys race to decide.

Hart County voters have two locations to advance vote this election cycle: the Board of Elections office on Cade St. in Hartwell and the Reed Creek Fellowship Hall on Reed Creek Highway.

Early voting takes place from 9a to 5p and ends this Friday, the 17th. There will be NO Saturday early voting opportunity this weekend.

If you have chosen to vote by absentee paper ballot and have received your ballot, you are asked to fill it out promptly and return it immediately to avoid the chance of your paper ballot not arriving back to the Elections office by 7p on the 21st.

Election Supervisor Tracie Creason tells WLHR News that of the 140 paper ballots her office sent out, 35 have come back so far.

Hart County Elections Supervisor Robin Webb said of the 130 absentee ballots her office sent out, 30 have been returned.

Webb is encouraging those who have received their absentee paper ballot to consider returning it to her office in person or have someone deliver your paper ballot to her office for you in order to ensure your vote is counted.

Anyone with questions about early voting or absentee paper ballots can contact their local Elections office.
