Hippie Fest Headed to Downtown Lavonia Saturday

There’s a groovy happening coming up this weekend in downtown Lavonia that’s going to be a far-out event for the whole family.

The Lavonia Downtown Development Authority is inviting you to take a trip – back to the days of peace, love, and bell bottoms at the annual Hippie Fest.

DDA Executive Director Barbara Busby says it promises to once again be a cool blast from the past from 10a to 2p at the Gazebo.

But the fun really begins Friday night with the next Music on Main Concert. Friday’s Music on Main concert features ’60’s rock and roll performed by 2nd Time Around.

Busby says the concerts are always a lot of fun and Friday night’s concert is the perfect segue into Hippie Fest on Saturday.

Main Street Director Ashley Rose Dodd said there will be lots of vendors with hippie-era type merch for sale.

And another popular attraction, the foam canon will be back again this year.

In addition to vendors, Busby added there will also be a VW Bug Cruise In and a hippie costume contest.

Trophies will be awarded for the costume contest and the VW Bug Cruise In.

Both the Music on Main concert and the Hippie Fest are free admission.

Just bring your folding chairs for the concerts and enjoy a fun summer evening of music, fun and food.

Then come back downtown Saturday for a hippie fest happening from 10a to 2p.
