Talk Show Host Hice to Run for 10th Congressional Seat

Jody Hice, a conservative talk radio host and minister who made headlines when he fought the ACLU over displays of the Ten Commandments in courthouses, said he’ll be running for Congress in the 10th District.

In Monday’s announcement, Hice touted himself as a “constitutional conservative who believes in limited federal government.”

U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, who currently represents the 10th Congressional District, will be leaving to run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who is retiring at the end of this term.

According to his Web site, Hice is a native of Atlanta, who received his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary in Atlanta, GA.

Dr. Hice has been actively involved in ministry for over 30 years, and currently serves as Senior Pastor at The Summit in Loganville, GA.

He hosts a daily radio program entitled “The Jody Hice Show,” an outreach of “Let Freedom Ring Ministries“, heard  throughout the Southeastern U.S. and dedicated to informing listeners about moral, Constitutional and religious liberties issues facing our nation.

He is also co-host with Dr. Richard Lee on “Speak Out America,” a weekly call-in radio program heard nationally on Sirius channel 131 and other radio networks, bringing truth and common sense to American culture.

Hice, who lost a bid for the 7th Congressional District in 2010, also once dared the IRS to come after his church by endorsing Republican presidential candidate John McCain in a Sunday sermon.
