Head-on Collision in Franklin Co Seriously Injures Royston Woman

A head-on collision Saturday evening sent a Royston woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to Georgia State Patrol Hartwell Post Commander Sgt. First Class Camran Fleming, it happened just before 6p Saturday evening on Highway 106 near Cromers Bridge Road.

“A white 2000 Ford Excursion was traveling southbound on GA 106. A white 2021 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on GA 106. The Excursion failed to maintain its proper lane and traveled across the centerline,” Fleming said. “The front of the Excursion struck the front of the Accord in the northbound lane. The 19-year-old driver of the Excursion, identified as Payton Riley Caldwell of Crawford, Georgia, and a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old passenger both from Winder, were transported to Athens Regional with non-life-threating injuries. The 32-year-old driver of the Accord was life-flighted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.”

The driver of the Accord is identified as 32-year-old Tatsianna Nicole Peeple of Royston. Her condition is not known.

Fleming said the Troop B Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) responded to the scene to assist.

So far, no word on whether there are charges against the driver of the Excursion.
