Hartwell Prepares for Monster Mash

Hartwell’s Monster Mash is coming up on October 31 at Railroad St. Park in Hartwell.

This year’s Monster Mash takes place from 4p to 6p and hundreds of little ghouls and goblins are expected from across the area.

Ghost and goblin costumes will paint Hartwell spooky this Halloween as Hartwell Main Street presents the annual Mayor’s Monster Mash coming to Railroad Street Park this Oct. 31 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Shannon Vanskike, chair of Hartwell Main Street’s Monster Mash committee said many kids in the more rural areas don’t have a way to go door-to-door trick or treating and this is a great way for kids to have fun on Halloween.

The Monster Mash will kick off with a performance by the Hart County High School band flag corps, and cheerleaders.

DJ Zombie Bill will provide the spooky tunes while Wanda the Witch will play games with the children.

There will also be a costume contest with prizes for both kids and adults judged by Hartwell Mayor Brandon Johnson and City Councilman Dan Leard.

Additionally, winners of the scarecrow contest will also be announced during the monster mash.

Ballots are currently being accepted for the People’s Choice award which can be turned in at the mailbox at the Art Center.
