Hartwell Plans for Monster Mash and Scarecrow Bash Saturday

In Hart County, Hartwell will once again be holding their annual Halloween Monster Mash downtown on Saturday night.

This year’s monster’s mash takes place from 4p to 6p and will be on Depot Street this year.

Sponsored by the Hartwell Downtown Development Authority, DDA Executive Director Henley Cleary says they are looking forward to another fun evening for kids and adults.

“There’ll be lots of great music, lots and lots of candy will be handed out by organizations and businesses, a costume parade and awards for winners for each category and we’ll also be announcing of this year’s Scarecrow Contest,” Cleary said.

Cleary said the costume parade will begin around 4:30p.

Cleary said a local dance instructor will be there to help kids and adults hone their dancing skills.

One of the highlights of the Monster Mash is the announcing of the winner of the Scarecrow Contest.

Cleary says hundreds of businesses have participated this year in the competition which will be judged by an outside group.

“Fortunately, that’s not my job,” Henley joked. “Every year we find judges from outside Hart County so there’s no favoritism or conflict of interest. They come and they’re driven all around town and they make the choices. We just have to announce them.”

Again this year’s Monster Mash and Scarecrow Bash takes place in downtown Hartwell on Depot St. from 4p to 6p.
