Hartwell Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide in Death of Eastanollee Teen

We have an update on the Eastanollee teen who died last week from injuries he received in a church van accident in Habersham County.

The driver who authorities say hit that van is identified as 64-year-old Barry Clark of Hartwell.

Clark is now charged with Vehicular Homicide.

On Friday, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Rob Moore said Clark
turned himself in last Wednesday, July 3 at the Habersham County Detention Center in Clarkesville.

Clark was released on a $30,000 bond later the same day, Moore said.

According to the Georgia State Patrol Troopers on the scene, on Saturday June 29, Clark was allegedly driving under the influence on Georgia 365 South when he ran a red light at the intersection with the Demorest/Mt. Airy Highway.

Clark’s Toyota 4-Runner slammed into the passenger side of the River Point Church van which was carrying 15-year-old Theodore Bone, of Eastanollee, six other teenagers, and two adults.

“Teddy” as he was known to his friends and family suffered serious injuries and was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where he died last Wednesday.

Clark was initially charged with DUI, Failure To Obey a Traffic Control Device, and Serious Injury By Vehicle.

Clark had been out on bond on those charges when he turned himself in last Wednesday.
