Hart EMC Taking Applications for Bright Ideas Grant

The Hart EMC Foundation is seeking applications from area educators serving grades K-12 in public schools for their Bright Ideas grant.

Applications are due by August 28.

Bright Ideas grants will provide educators with funding of up to $1,000 per grant for innovative classroom projects that benefit students and would not otherwise be covered by school budgets.

The grant can finance a variety of hands-on projects, including music, art, history, language, reading, science, math, and information technology and proposals can come from any area of the curriculum.

The Bright Ideas Grant Program is made possible through the use of unclaimed capital credits.

The Georgia legislature passed HB 431 allowing cooperatives to use unclaimed capital credits within their service area for the benefit of charitable causes, economic development, and education.

Hart EMC’s board of directors chose to use the funds for Hart EMC Foundation Scholarships and Bright Ideas.

Grants will be awarded to certified schoolteachers in Elbert, Franklin, Hart, and Stephens counties.

Winners will be notified by the Bright Ideas Prize Team in October.

Applicants agree that their name, photo, and project may be used in print, broadcast, and other forms of media in publications of Hart Electric Membership Cooperative and the Hart EMC Foundation.

The Bright Idea Grants 2024 Application may be uploaded by going to the HartEMC website and clicking on the Community Involvement page, then HartEMC Foundation, then Bright Ideas.
