Give Blood in Honor of Black History Month and Spread Some Kindness

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Lavonia on Thursday, Feb. 1  from Noon to 4p at Lavonia First Baptist Church.

Donors who give in February in honor of Black History Month will receive a $5 Amazon.com gift card from the American Red Cross, thanks to a $1 million donation from Amazon.

Additionally, as we’ve been telling you, the City of Lavonia has kicked off a Year of Kindness.

As part of spreading kindness, each month the City of Lavonia is focusing on areas where people can help others in some way, and in February it’s giving blood.

Lavonia Mayor Courtney Umbehant said people in general have allowed the issues and problems in our country and world to have an affect on their behavior.

Umbehant said no one is perfect and we need to remember that everyone has problems and issues they’re facing.

Now if you can’t give blood on Thursday, there are multiple times and locations this month in our area where Blood Connection bloodmobiles will located.

The City of Lavonia will have a bloodmobile parked downtown on February 22 from 1p to 6p.

Blood drives are also taking place at Franklin Co HS on February 8, Pinnacle Bank in Franklin Springs on the 14th, and at the Walmart in Hartwell on the 17th and 25th, to name a few.
