Franklin County Health Department Rabies Clinic Saturday

The Franklin County Health Department will be holding their countywide rabies clinic Saturday afternoon at various locations

Franklin County Environmental Health Department Director Louis Korff said over the past year, there have not been as many confirmed cases of rabies in Franklin County as in past years.

Korff said since the last rabies clinic in May 2015, his office has sent in 20 specimens for testing. Of those only three were positive for rabies and all three were raccoons.

Additionally, Korff said only one dog had to be euthanized because of rabies exposure, which he said is standard procedure.

The rabies vaccines will be $5 each for a one-year vaccine. New this year, low-cost distemper vaccines for cats and dogs will also be offered for $7.

You don’t have to live in Franklin County to take advantage of the low-cost rabies clinic.
