Franklin Co Sheriff Candidate Mitch Murphy Outlines Platform

Community policing and better benefits for law enforcement employees are just two of the goals of Franklin County Sheriff candidate Mitch Murphy if he’s elected.

Murphy is one of three candidates so far who have announced their intention to run for the office of Sheriff.

Speaking this week to WLHR News, Murphy said, if elected, he would like to see better retirement and insurance benefits for Sheriff’s Dept employees.

Murphy has been in law enforcement since 1988 and has served under three Franklin County Sheriffs.

He said as far as more community policing, he would like to have more officers involved in community events with a view toward keeping those events safe for everyone.

As for the biggest crime issues in Franklin County, Murphy sees two main areas, drugs and domestic violence.

When it comes to fighting the drug problem, Murphys said there needs to be more concentrated patrols on County roads.

You will be able to hear the entire interview with Mitch Murphy on Community Forum, Sunday, January 21. Community Forum is aired every Sunday at 12:03p following ABC Network News.
