Franklin BOC to Hold Work Session Tonight

Franklin County Commissioners meet this evening for their regular monthly work session.

The work session takes place at 6p at the Franklin County Justice Center in Carnesville.

On the agenda this evening Commissioners are expected to discuss a number of line items including the 911 system upgrade.

The County is searching for an affordable way to upgrade its 911 system, which is out of date, and has proposals from three companies so far, Communications International, Gunby Communications, and Southern Linc.

County Commission Chair Jeff Jacques said the Board is still evaluating their options.

Jacques said the Board recently heard a presentation from a representative of Southern Linc and indicated their system is currently being used by State agencies and appears to be a viable option.

Another group, Communications International, he said, is modifying their proposal to a system that would be functional but also budget-friendly.

Additionally, he said Gunby Communications is another option they are looking at but so far no decision has been made.

Tonight they will hear again from Trey Roberts from Southern Linc.

Also on the agenda this evening, the Board will discuss setting the qualifying fees for the 2024 election year, and discuss an Intergovernmental agreement with the Board of Education.

Again, tonight’s work session takes place at 6p at the Justice Center in Carnesville and is also available via Zoom.
