Franklin BOC and BOE Sign Intergovernmental Agreement for New School Sewer Lift Station

Franklin County Commissioners have approved their side of an intergovernmental agreement with the Franklin County Board of Education for the construction and maintenance of a lift station and sewer line to the new South Franklin Elementary School now under construction.

At their meeting Monday night Interim County Manager Terry Harris outlined the County’s side of the agreement between the School Board and the County.

Last month, Board of Education members heard from Assistant School Superintendent of Operations Carl Dekker about the sewer extension and lift station needed for the new school.

Dekker said the School Board will provide the easement for the lift station and will provide the funds for construction.

After hearing from Dekker, the Board of Education voted to approve the intergovernmental agreement with the County.

At Monday’s meeting,

the Board of Commissioners also voted unanimously to approve the agreement.

Construction of South Franklin Elementary is expected to be completed by October, 2024.
