Fr. Co. Board of Education to Hold Public Hearings on Proposed Millage Rate

The Franklin County Board of Education will hold public hearings next Thursday on their intention to raise property taxes by 4.89 percent.

Earlier, the Board adopted a millage rate of 14.471 mill, which is an increase of 0.674 mils.

According to the Board of Education without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 13.797 mills.

That results in a property tax increase of about $59 for a home with a fair market value of $225,000 and a $40 increase for a non-homestead property with a fair market value of $150,000.

The Board of Education will hold two public hearings on July 18, at 8a and again at 5:30p.

All concerned citizens are invited to attend one of the public hearings on the 18th.

Additionally, a third public hearing will take place on July 25 at 6p.

All three meetings will take place at the Board of Education Administrative Offices, 280 Busha Road, Carnesville, GA,

The millage will be set at the Board of Education Meeting on July 25 at 6:30p at the Administrative offices on Busha Road.
