Expected Rain Will Not Put a Damper on Saturday’s Ren Fest

The threat of rain on Saturday isn’t stopping plans for the fifth annual Renaissance Festival in Lavonia.

This weekend’s forecast calls for rain and possibly a thunderstorm on and off throughout the day Saturday into Sunday.

But Lavonia Downtown Development Authority Director Barbara Busby said Ren Fest will take place Saturday rain or shine.

This year’s theme is Pirates and Mermaids and Busby said they have a variety of theme-related live entertainment lined up for the Fest.

Additionally, Busby said there will be more Mermaids this year and a pirate ship for kids to climb on.

She added that there will also be Renaissance-focused vendors and of course, lots of good food.

Renfest will be held from 10a to 5p Saturday on the old Moose Lodge property across from Lavonia City Park.

There will be free parking at the American Legion Post.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and kids under 5 are free.
