CORE to Offer Free Health Screenings at Lavonia Carnegie Library

The non-profit group, CORE which stands for Community Organized Relief Effort of Georgia has partnered with the Lavonia-Carnegie Library to offer a mobile health services day next week.

According to CORE coordinator Amy Borton, they will be at the Library on Tuesday, July 30 from 10:30a to 5:30p.

Borton said all of the health services they’ll provide next week at the Library will be at no cost.

Additionally, Borton said in addition to health services, they’ll have other giveaways such as souvenirs, wearables, gifts, kids’ toys, and stickers.

Founded in 2010 by actor Sean Penn, CORE initially started to help people in Haiti devastated by an earthquake, CORE has evolved over the past 15 years to become a global humanitarian organization that helps communities in crisis.

That includes responding to natural disasters, conflict, food insecurity, disease outbreaks, climate change, and public health emergencies.

Again, CORE will be at the Lavonia Carnegie Library next Tuesday offering free health screenings and other information from 10:30a to 5:30p and it is free.
