City of Royston to Raise Certain Fees for Utilities and Services

Certain fees are going up in the City of Royston.

At their called meeting Tuesday evening, City Manager Sharleen Ayers went over a number of planned increases for city services and utilities.

Ayers said both the water and sewer base charges will increase in the coming months based on the current Consumer Price Index which rose 3.4%.

Another increase for City utility customers Ayers said will be for sanitation services, which she said is also based on the rise in the CPI.

Ayers added tipping fees for small and large dumpsters will also increase.

Additionally, Ayers recommended the City increase its annual fee for distilled spirits license from $4,000 to $5,000 a year.

Mayor Keith Turman recommended waiting to vote on the residential and commercial sanitation fee increases until their March meeting.

A motion was then made to approve the other fee increases and to wait until March to vote on the residential and commercial sanitation fees and it passed unanimously with Councilman Kenneth Roach absent.
